Expedia.com Awarded Best APAC Online Travel Agency Website
Expedia.com was today voted the best online travel agency website in the Asia Pacific region at the 7th TravelMole APAC Web Awards 2014.
Ms Kathleen Tan, CEO of AirAsiaExpedia Travel, a joint venture between Expedia and AirAsia, received the Best APAC Online Travel Agency website award at the ITB Asia 2014 conference held at the Marina Bay Sands.
The TravelMole APAC Web Award 2014, in association with ITB Asia, is the main award event for the Asia Pacific travel industry to recognize the best web, social, mobile and travel technology deployment. Nominees for this category were judged based on the most innovative website and the components which made it stand out, such as innovative user experience, strong marketing and the right hotel product and prices, clear servicing and booking, inspiring content and efficient technical development.
Receiving the award, Ms Tan said: “This award is a testament to the strides Expedia has made over the past few years to overhaul the technology driving the website in order to deliver the best possible user online experience.
“There's so much that Asia, a huge diverse continent, can offer and we understand how complex and complicated travel planning and booking can be. Expedia has been testing and learning exactly what the consumers want in order to deliver a rich and relevant user experience to our customers in Asia. In the past couple of years, we have also been building up teams in the region with local knowledge and creating strong localized content and value-driven bundled deals to delight our customers.
“I would like to thank all our website users and industry peers for this award.”
ITB Asia 2014 attracted 10,000 travel industry professionals, from 110 countries. The trade show brought together international exhibitors of all sectors of the travel-value chain, Asia Pacific’s leading travel companies and emerging small and medium-sized enterprises to meet with top international buyers from the MICE, Leisure and Corporate Travel markets.
Expedia ventured into Asia market when it formed a joint venture company, AirAsiaExpedia (AAE Travel Pte Ltd) in March 2011, with AirAsia. AAE then, was the first JV of its kind globally between a low cost carrier (LCC) and an online travel agent (OTA).
