- Teams from UP, HP, Haryana and Delhi to participate
Along with Delhi the tournament will also be held in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The qualifying matches will be held across these states in close to 2000 villages. The qualifying teams from these villages will be playing for the final leg which will be held in Delhi. The participating teams will comprise of youngsters who have been playing at various Stairs centres spread across the country.
Strongly supporting this initiative by Stairs, Uflex Ltd., India's largest flexible packaging company will bear all the expenses of the tournament.
Uflex Khelo Dilli is a joint philanthropic endeavour of Uflex Ltd., India’s largest flexible packaging company and Stairs. It was conceptualized in 2011 with the aim of providing free space, infrastructure and sports equipment to the less fortunate children. Out of the more than 1, 50,000 youngsters playing at Stairs centres across the country, 15,000 are active at the 29 Delhi centres alone.
Olympic Day was introduced in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games on 23 June 1894 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Thousands of people participate in sports activities, such as races, exhibitions, music and educational seminars. Over the last two decades, the event has helped to spread the Olympic ideals to every corner of the world.
