Xylem Inc. Continues to Fulfill Its Social Commitment towards Villages in Gujarat

Xylem Inc., a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, continues with its initiative to support and improve the lives of villagers in Gujarat, by providing and protecting safe water resources through its Corporate Citizenship and Social Investment program – ‘Xylem Watermark’. Xylem Watermark globally has provided over 2 million people in over 20 countries with clean drinking water, hygiene education and sanitation solutions.

Since the beginning of 2014 Xylem Watermark, has committed to 15 projects providing clean water and hygiene education to communities in Gujarat. With the addition of Sokhada project Xylem announces the successful completion of five projects in 2014, namely Bahi village, Dhantej village, Aral village and Bakrol village.

The completion of these projects was celebrated by yet another first - handing over of an aqua tower to the school children of these five villages. The children were also educated on daily hygiene and sanitation needs which conducted by the volunteers from Xylem India. The Aqua Tower will benefit approximately 5,000 people including school children, teachers, in addition to the villagers in an around these five villages.

We dedicate the Sokhada village project to our late Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Peter Olive who passed away last year.”

Also present on the occasion, Ms. Shobha Nair, General Manager, Corporate Communications & Customer Service, Xylem Water Solutions India, said, “Xylem Watermark has improved the lives of thousands of people in West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka & Gujarat through its corporate philanthropy program "Watermark" which aims to provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. Over 303 primary schools and 2, 41,151 villagers across West Bengal and Bihar while over 24 schools and over 60000 villagers across Gujarat and Karnataka have benefited through the Xylem Watermark projects till date. More than 150 Xylem employees from locations across India have helped to construct these towers, where each tower provides 10,000 liters of clean, filtered water everyday.”
