Avantha Group Company CG’s Automation business unit, over the last 12 months, has participated in 10 Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) pilot runs worldwide, to deploy ZIV-branded smart meters and data concentrators.
Energias de Portugal (EDP), CREOS (Luxembourg), ENERGA (Poland), ENERGOBIT (Romania), Electricité Du Liban (EDL - Lebanon), CGJDF (India), POWERGRID (India), Companhia Energetica de Pernambuco (CELPE - Brazil), and Empresa Provincial de Energía de Santa Fe (EPE - Argentina) are running CG’s ZIV smart grid solutions. The solutions are also operational at the Iberdrola STAR Project, in Bilbao, Spain, in the world's first major Smart Grid deployment, where over 227,000 ZIV smart meters are successfully monitoring the electricity services provided to the area’s 410,000 inhabitants.
CG, after acquiring ZIV, is the key supplier of PRIME meters globally, and was the first manufacturer to gain PRIME certification for its ZIV’s 4CCT model, a robust Data Concentrator Unit (DCU). To extend beyond smart metering and complement the Distribution Automation Solution (DAS) portfolio, CG, at its smart grid excellence centre in Bilbao, has developed a complete set of solutions for Medium Voltage (MV) & Low Voltage (LV) automation systems, covering different technologies such as radio (ZigBee) and PLC (G3-PLC & PRIME).
Through these expansions, CG will widen its Smart Grid offer spectrum and play an important role in strengthening the power networks of countries. EDP chose ZIV’s DCU in February last year for the deployment of a PRIME AMI in Portugal. CG recently completed the supply of 30,000 ZIV Meters to ANDE (Administración Nacional de Electricidad), Paraguay.
