Global Hospitals Launches Institute of Liver Diseases, HPB Surgery and Transplantation for Patients in Mumbai

Mr. Nikunj Kapadia, a 67 year old Mumbai based businessman was the first patient to get a new lease of life through Liver Transplant at Global Hospitals Mumbai. Mr. Kapadia was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis and only option available to him was through a Liver Transplant surgery. Mr. Nikunj patiently had to wait for a Cadaver Donor before his son Mr. Munjal Kapadia, aged 36 years decided to donate a portion of his liver to him.

One of the most comprehensive teams for a Liver Transplant program in India, lead by Prof. Mohamed Rela, who is one of the leading transplant surgeons in the country. He has performed over 2000 surgeries, on neonates and adults, (holds a Guinness record for a liver transplant performed on a 5 day old). The Mumbai team comprises of Transplant Surgeons, team of Hepatologists lead by Dr. Samir Shah, specialists and Nurses from Global Hospitals Mumbai & Chennai worked in tandem to make the surgery successful.
