This week is not going well for the Indian Sports industry with the ban on IOA and Indian cricket team failing before guest England. We’ve summed up a list of sports stories relevant to Indian sports industry and hope you’ll find them useful as your weekend digest.

International Olympic Committee suspends IOA

International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Tuesday after frequent warning from months in regards of holding independent elections. This suspension will stop IOC funding to IOA and no Indian athlete can participate in any Olympic events under Indian flag. It’s a biggest embarrassment for Indian on such an International ground though some of the Indian Olympic players do welcome this action and thinks that it will help create a white collar IOA. Here are some of their reactions:

• Beijing Olympics gold medalist Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra tweeted: "Bye Bye IOA, hope to see u again soon, hopefully cleaner!"
• Indian Tennis Stat Mahesh Bhupati tweeted: "So I got banned, now the IOA gets banned, they says things like these normally happen in three's.. Wonder what's next!!"
• Indian Author Chetan Bhagat suggested this on his tweet: "Dear IOC, you have suspended the IOA. Now if only you could round up the officials, take a javelin and...oh well, one step at a time,".

Indian Cricket team skidded before England at Eden

Indian cricketers just got smoked before England bowlers in the first innings at Eden garden, though Captain MS Dhoni’s 52 helped the team cross the 300 mark. By Day 2 England was trailed by 100 runs with fall of just a single wicket as Nick Compton. Alistair Cook and Jonathan Trott are still shining on the field with a century and half-century respectively. In the next line-up, there is Kevin Pieterson who is in top form.

Indian Hockey Team stills tops in Group A even after a 2-3 lose from Germany in Champions Trophy

Well, with bad news there is some good news as the Indian Hockey team still tops in Group A of Champions Trophy even after a 2-3 lose from Germany. Even Germany and India have same points, Indian tops due to its previous two victories on the basis of goal margins.
